3 Tips for a Permanently Tidy Bathroom

Cleaning up the bathroom is a Sisyphean task. No sooner have you scrubbed the last bit of mildew from the corners of the shower than some new mess has appeared in the other corner. For a small room, it sees a lot of action and consequently creates a lot of mess. Here are some ideas for how to keep your bathroom relatively neat and tidy.

Organize

First of all, organize what you have. A shower caddy can give you a spot to put your shampoo and conditioner, jewelry tray inserts for drawers can keep clutter off your dresser, and a rack can keep your towels out of the laundry baskets. Organization is the very first thing you should do when you’re trying to keep your bathroom tidy.

Divest

Once you’ve organized, get rid of anything that doesn’t fit. If you don’t have a place to put it, then it doesn’t belong in your beautiful bathroom. Check expiration dates on makeup and beauty products, combine half-empty soaps and shampoos and get rid of that shower scrubber you never use anyway. Reducing clutter makes it easier to find what you need when you need it.

Maintain

Do yourself a favor and make it easier to maintain that cleanliness. If there are wipes in or just outside the shower, it’s easier to remember to clean the residue off your shower. If you have toilet bowl cleaner next to the toilet, you’ll remember to use it more often. If you put a laundry basket in the spot where dirty clothes get dumped, you’ll see laundry going where it belongs. Streamline your maintenance and you’ll find it easier to maintain.

Bathrooms will never be completely, perfectly clean, but it’s all too easy for them to end up completely filthy. With some careful precautions and a little regular maintenance, you can at least make sure that your bathroom isn’t an embarrassment.
