Summer Getaway at Dakak

I made a promise to my family that we will travel the whole Philippines, one place at a time and we started it last year. This year we went to Dapitan City to see what it has to offer. It took us more than 10 hours of travel from our place (Bukidnon) and I was the only one driving the car. But the long hours of traveling paid off when I saw this:

I took that photo using my latest camera, my Fujifilm X10. I am not a good photographer but I hope you can see the beauty of the place with that photo. I took it standing at Dakak restaurant fronting the pristine white beach while we were ordering for our lunch.

My 2 years old daughter just cant help it. She saw a lot of birds so she went out into the white sand beach and chase it off. The view is still pretty awesome and yes the almost 7 hours drive from Cagayan de Oro City is all worth it.

Dakak Beach Resort has a lot of tour packages for those who are into a tight budget and of course they also offer packages for walk-in customers like me and my family. I chose the room and rides package which costs 1,190php per person (minimum of 10) which gave us the Pavilion Room that can accommodate 16 people.
This Package is inclusive of:
-Overnight at FAMILY PAVILION ROOM accommodation
-Roundtrip airport/wharf/resort transfer
-Fantasyland Rides
-Complimentary use of swimming pools, water slides, beach volley and outside Jacuzzi
So 1,190php per person is not that expensive.

Gloria de Dapitan Fantasyland has a lot to offer too, it is indeed a World Class Theme Park that can be found in Mindanao. Their rides includes but not limited to : old Western train, midi flume ride, tea cups ride, nessie coaster ride, bumper cars, swinger, galleon ride, and the zimmerman ride. They also have different games available to play on and different characters that roam around the theme park. The HORROR House is terrifying and the 5D movie can turn your stomach upside-down.

If I have to give it a score with number 10 as the highest, I would probably give it a perfect 10! We had FUN, we stayed all day in the sun and we enjoyed every single moment of our life when we were in the place. We have traveled a long way from our place but we have discovered different municipalities during our travel.

It is more fun in the Philippines, you don’t need to go out of the country to have a little piece of heaven on earth.

Tuesday Travels: Panglao, Bohol – Fave Beach Destination

Tuesday Travels once again and I my Favorite Beach Destination is located in Bohol. This is a white sand beach located in Panglao Island. You need to ride a boat to get there. This is what they call, Virgin Island. I have visited this place last May with my cousins and nieces and I want to visit it again together with my family.

The island hop would not be complete without me swimming in it. So there, I took off my dress and swim along.

Virgin Island in Panglao

After my cousin’s wedding, we woke up early on the next day in order to visit Balicasag Island in Panglao, Bohol in order to go dolphin watching. But sad to say, even though we woke up as early as 4 am in order to see the dolphins, nature is against us. The waves won’t allow us and so we just ate our breakfast by the beach and decided to go home afterwards.

But after eating, the boatman told us that we could go to a certain Virgin Island in Panglao because the waves are not that strong anymore and he knows another way to visit the island. Our aunts decided that we should go and see the island because we are there already and it will be fun for sure.

It was indeed a very beautiful island with white sand and some coconut trees. There are vendors who sell sea urchins for 20php and because my nieces and nephews have not tasted a sea urchin before, they have bought 2 and said it tasted good.

It was not a waste of time after all. If you happen to visit Bohol, do not forget to visit Panglao Island and go Island Hopping.
