Look at my baby daughter, she looks great wearing an Army Hat. Never in my wildest dream that I will let her join the armed forces but she looks just so cool wearing my Dad’s hat.

The Top 3 Museums in Amsterdam

Amsterdam is the ideal destination for those looking for a short city break. There is truly something for everyone here, from unique architecture to an enjoyable cafe culture. Perfect little hidden shopping precincts and excellent museums mean you will not be disappointed.

As Amsterdam is a relatively flat city, it is super easy to get around on foot and the public transportation here is second to none. This makes it ideal for those who just like a wander and for those with an agenda, you will find getting from place to place simple and pleasurable.

Getting here is easy too. Flights into Schipol Airport arrive from all around the world every day and the city centre is just a quick train journey away. Many people also choose to arrive overland by train right into the city centre or transfer to the train from Rotterdam after arriving by ferry. There is also the option to arrive by cruise ship or cruise the canals of Holland as your holiday itself. To explore these options you can find the best cruise deals at No matter how you choose to get here, there are three main sites you won’t want to miss and they are Anne Frankhuis, the Van Gogh Museum and the Rijksmuseum.

Anne Frankhuis

Everyone is familiar with the story of Anne Frank and for most people, a visit to the Anne Frank House is an absolute must do when they visit Amsterdam. Seeing for yourself the place where her diary was written is a moving experience and you will find that the restored canal house, complete with secret annex, offers an incredible insight into the trials of Jewish citizens under Nazi occupation.

Van Gogh Museum

Another must see for most visitors is the Van Gogh Museum located in Museum Square. At the museum you can explore the life and times of Van Gogh and learn about this much celebrated but troubled genius. The museum is home to the largest collection of Van Gogh pieces in the world but contrary to the name, it is not dedicated solely to this one artist. Here you will also find a wide variety of works by great artists such as Monet, Sisley, Toulouse-Lautrec and Cezanne, as well as a variety of works on temporary display throughout the year.

The largest national museum in the country, the Rijksmuseum’s current home was opened in 1885 and was designed and built by one of the country’s most famous architects, PJH Cuypers. Housing one of the most extensive and important collections in Europe and the world’s largest collection of Dutch Master paintings, the Rijksmusem is a definite can’t miss if you are in the city.

Visiting Amsterdam is a bit like stepping back in time with the quirky canal side townhouses and cobbled streets, so it makes sense to immerse yourself in this feeling by visiting its excellent museums. No matter how you choose to get here, you will enjoy your stay and learn a little something about Dutch history whilst you are here.

Nail Art for your Kids? Why Not!

I have seen this cool online shop that sells water-based nail polish which is a great product because kids these days are so into nail art!

This is my niece’s toe nails:

Yeah, they look great, she insisted on having a nail polish and that it should have a flower drawing on it. Kids copy what adults do these days that is why we need to be very vigilant with the things we do.
